That was the colour coming off mate! I scratched back all through the dirt and it was a light bluey grey. maybe after a good dousing of motor oil, kerosene and other airborne workshop crap it'll darken down

Colour can often look way out on a pc and it's probably not 'burn your eyes out' blue ...no matter what the colour is..I am still jealous as hell.

Yeah, it's probably not as blue as it seems but I think I could have chosen a darker shade. I'll post a picture once it's all done with the bare steel-work back on and you can see what you think

Legend. Does yours still have the bend capacity plaque on it? Could you tell me what it says if you do? Should be on the handle. Cheers mate

Some more photographs. I'm almost done, which is good as uni starts again next week (and I'm hoping to take delivery of a vintage bench grinder, too!)

I decided to put it all back together then apply the topcoat to the arm as there would inevitably be a few knocks and grazes in the process.

I don't have a riveter so I just epoxied the plaque back on then polished some screws up and fixed them in. I'm pleased with the result.

Hopefully these pics don't make it look too blue like last time. I am haunted by the fact that when I bought this it was seized, and I picked it up by the tommy bar. This could have been catastrophic had the little hex nut not have been seized by paint. It was this thick coat of paint between moving, the tommmy bar sliding out and the thing coming crashing down. I have made the same mistake whilst moving it a few times, though now it is all oiled up the bar just pops out leaving the base behind. Thank God I still have toes lol

Anyway, I'll post another pic once I get a bit of flat bar for the handle (uni sells steel at cost, no gst/vat), and once the second coat is on but for now, this is the end.
