sales that arnt sales

ive been waiting for the sales to come so held off buying some stuff and im not the only one thats been doing this

today we went to check on prices seen as its january sales to buy something

been looking at washers, dont get me started on those things theyve changed the size of the drums but not the price of the machine a 14" to front of drum to a width of drum

these are the ones with the biggest drums

there is another zanussi at 9kg with large drum at 279.00 as you can see i took these pics in november went to day and there still at the same prices as in november

sales in shops not anymore there still priced at the same value only selected models are truly at sales price even thought the shop quotes that all items are at sales prices

to me its just seams to be fraudulent advertising

in end after pointing it out the person i was with bought the 9kg one at 269.00 ten pounds off the sale price only because i pointed out that there shop is not exactly having a sale in the first place but i had the photos to prove this

the shop called sonic isnt the only place thats false advertising there all doing it currys and comet is the same on there prices

I don't complain at the price of electrical goods any more. We found the receipt for our first automatic washing machine from about 40 years ago and it was a good £100 dearer than the one we have now. Suck it up or do without seems to be the option.

Isn't it something daft though like the item must be full price for just a month before the sale date? That's how the supermarkets do it with their "price drop" . The products on sale are just rotated every month. Butter is a typical example.

It's all just marketing B/S at the end of the day. You just need to know what you're looking for and where to buy it at the right price on that day.

Hi, I remember hearing a news item that the various shops had set aside so many units for the sales and they had all been sold in the first 2 or 3 days after Christmas and there was none left for the January sales season.

As regards sales prices, they only have to be offered at full price in one store somewhere for I think 90 days until they can drop it for a 'bargain' price. There's no time limit between the two dates of full price and sale price.

Personally wouldn't have another zanussi, beko or any of the brands within those 2 groups, build quality ain't great, quality control non existent and their customer service doesn't exist and both of them couldn't give a monkeys and use "engineers" who would struggle tell a screwdriver from a drive belt....

had a Zanussi washing machine late 80s, it was indestructible mechanically, in the end the case started to rust so based on how good it was bought new maching Zanussi washing machine and dryer, what a pile of junk they were, washing machine just out of guarantee carbons went twice and 2nd time the commutator was rough as concrete, arcing so bad it looked like the tail of a comet entering the atmosphere, the shop I bought the carbons from used a comstick (probably a brand name) whilst it was running and sorted that out, it started to rust, the drum bearing went, the program knob snapped, the dryer bearings went, belt snapped amongst other little things, apparently they became part of Electrolux, wouldn't have those either after seeing how bad their vacuum cleaners were in the 70s
as for Beko ive had under counter fridge and freezer and have been really reliable

They know the laws and get around them by offering the goods at low sales outlets at higher prices for the required time, if you read their small print it often says "on sale at our ********; *******; and ******** stores at the price of £whaever" the higher price was from one date to another.

There's a place in Bolton..... it's called elekdirect....I bought the Samsung ecobubble washer drier..retail around £700 got it for just under £300 (10 year motor warranty) and also a Bosch washer/drier for an apartment..again almost £400 off. They have full guarantees but some sort of mark or dent..so far 3 years later both are working perfectly and the marks can't be seen from the front......why pay more?? Worth a phone call...........they do deliver for about £40...no, I don't have shares in them!

We are on our second LG washer. First cost £900 and when it died a better, direct drive, replacement was £700 ! Tumble dryer packed in and opted for a BRITISH MADE White Knight condensing and am delighted with it so will consider their washers in the future.

we never bothered with sales at any time.
we quickly learnt that years ago there is never a sale discount,like it is mention above only couple a reduce and the even before boxing day sales.
fools easily parted with money something like that anyway.

i did buy a beko 1600 spin 9 kg for 189 a couple of days after xmas have not seen the 1600 for that price before around the 250 ish but yes very little sale items and only worth buying if you need one

Then there's the pre-xmas price rise, we were looking for a new camera for Mrs Robo in September and she found one she liked for £199, so I made a note of make/model intending to buy it nearer xmas for a couple of reasons, didn't want to lose a few months warranty and there may be pre-xmas offers on it. Started looking late November and they were now £239!, after a couple of weeks I decided I would have to pay the new price, but now they are all out of stock until mid January had to give her an IOU for xmas

We had an Ariston machine that self destructed on fast spin speed just outside warranty and they came and repaired it free of charge anyway as I made a fuss at the shop we bought it from. The drum let go and battered itself to bits and the repair man took it with him to show what had happened as he had never seen anything so bad. Our present machine is a Zanussi which we have had for about 7 years and it has been good as gold. It's the smoothest runner we ever had and a 1300 spin with large door so a duvet goes in easily.

Totally the opposite of our experience though. Our first automatic was a Hoover which everyone said was the worst choice ever and it lasted for 20 years with only motor brushes replaced.

I had good experience of them at first but upon replacing them it couldn't have been worse
