All,
I am new to welding and having failed to find a single evening class in the past 6 months, I have bought a couple of books, read most of the posts in this forum and got my new setup on order (thanks weldequip, great service!). My question is about possible ways to hurn yourself with a MIG welder.
The various books and forum posts talk at length about fire risks, molten sparks, arc burn etc. However I cannot find anywhere a reference to risk of electrocution. I would have thought at 150 amps give or take, this would be a major area to be careful of, but it never seems to be discussed, and there are many pictures in the books of people holding work (albeit a way away from the heat) with an ungloved hand.
My simple question is: is it easy/likely/possible to get electrocuted with a MIG welder, and if not, why not?
Sorry if this is a stupid noob question! I hope you will not mind giving me some pointers once I have done some test welds.
Cheers!
P.S. Does anybody know any good places to get scrap, sheet and stip steel in or around Milton Keynes, I'm drawing a blank!
