Picked this up at a carboot as I like unusual stuff. Any ideas how to work it I have tried spinning the dial as per the instructions but not sure I am doing it right?
Start at 0, 65 anti clockwise three times, returning to 0 each time. 20 clockwise two times, returning to 0 each time. 14 anti-clockwise one time. That would be my take on it.
Probably more like three turns anticlockwise (or more), ending at 65, two turns clockwise, ending at 20, then back to 14. The locking mechanism probably consists of three rings, with the first, attached to the front dial, driving the second via a peg (or pin) that engages in a tab (or stud) in the second ring, and the third ring driven by the second, again via a peg and tab arrangement. There is almost a full turn of "play" between each tab and its corresponding peg, so that it requires a full three turns of the dial to rotate the third ring. When all the slots in the ring outers line up, the lock can be opened. Something like:
