Hello Folks,
I'm hoping someone can maybe point me in the right direction.
I have a dead PrestoTig 220 ac/dc. I bought this welder 2nd hand over 10 years ago and its been a great wee welder. Some time back it started on occasion clicking away and a U-P error code appeared intermittently. I thought it might have been an issue with the incoming power supply.
Anyhow its got to the point were the U-P error is permanent and the machine is dead.
I initially gave it to a company who supposedly fix tools etc. They have had it over 7 weeks, I need a welder and couldn't wait any longer so had to ask for it back. I thought before sending it off to someone else I would try here to see if it was possible to identify components that are goosed so I can replace otherwise its going to be months before I find out if this is fixable or not. I'd like to get it up and running as its a great machine.
Thanks to someone on the forum, I have a spoke to Ian Lannigan who was very helpful but the person who does his work on PCB's is very busy and is not going to be able to look at it anytime soon.
I've had a look over the PCB on the LHS of the machine where the main power enters. I can't see any signs of damage to the board. There are 2 relays that click away when this error comes up - presumably cutting power to another board? dont know. I have had a look at the gate driver part and the little red surface mount LED's next to each of the 4 gate driver ccts are out so looks like no power getting to these?
Any ideas as to what the issue could be with this?
thanks
Jimmy
