Sachs clutch kits - anything wrong with them?

Let me clear something up here. The clutch isn't worn out. The problem is that the car occasionally refuses to go into, or come out of gear. This is likely due to corrosion on the gearbox splines (not an uncommon problem on lightly used Fiestas) causing the friction plate to drag. But, as I have to remove the box to fix it, I'd be daft not to put a new clutch in at the same time.

Ah - much more sensible. I'd never had a car do that, despite some of them getting little use, until my Dodge. There's a service note in the US for when an owner complains of a poor shift - but being slightly outside the dealership network, I cleaned up and lubed mine myself - made a massive difference.

Always oem for brakes. Fitted a few motors with pagid over the years, the savings are never worth the short life span, excessive dust, squeezing

I think a lot of people confuse Pagid with Jurid, who are the OEM for a lot of brake pads used by car manufacturers.

Pagid is pushed as a 'premium' brand by ECP, yet from what I seen of their stuff, it was pretty average, with their recon brake calipers being very much below average.

In a previous life, I was quite surprised at the brake brand names coming out of one factory - we used to supply bespoke machines, conveyors, jigs, extraction, refurb machines they'd got somewhere etc.

Fitted a Sachs clutch in my resto. It's not back on the road yet but it seemed good quality. I think Saachs components were used on some Saabs so one of the better manufacturers I reckon.

That's quite impressive, managing to kill a clutch in 25K miles. How many previous owners?

I have never worn out a clutch on my own vehicles. My van is on 152,000 miles always fully loaded original clutch. My 4x4 is on 166,000 miles original clutch.

ECP refused to replace a bad Bosch distributor cap for me in 2005. I have 11 cars and buy about £1k of parts many months of the year.

Call me stubborn but since my experience in 2005 with them I have gave them 0 pence of business and would drive +50 miles to avoid them. Their fake sales etc tell it all.

Had a farmer whose manual car always sounded like a 3 speed auto
Lots of revs then a lag then lots of revs then, he never did more than 25mph. Clutches lasted on average 9months.

My last Group B car had a three plate sintered clutch in it, that was "exciting" to drive :-)

Sachs clutches are OK.

But you gotta be carefull with VAG applications.

Some models you cannot mount a Sachs clutch on a LUK DMF (dual mass flywheel).

You need Sachs clutch and flywheel - or LUK clutch and flywheel.

Reason being - thickness of flywheel - add matching clutch/flyweel - whole pack makes the right overall thickness.

Mostly I fit complete LUK repsets....
