Ah - much more sensible. I'd never had a car do that, despite some of them getting little use, until my Dodge. There's a service note in the US for when an owner complains of a poor shift - but being slightly outside the dealership network, I cleaned up and lubed mine myself - made a massive difference.Let me clear something up here. The clutch isn't worn out. The problem is that the car occasionally refuses to go into, or come out of gear. This is likely due to corrosion on the gearbox splines (not an uncommon problem on lightly used Fiestas) causing the friction plate to drag. But, as I have to remove the box to fix it, I'd be daft not to put a new clutch in at the same time.
