Okay, this will probably be one for the more experienced amongst the forum-
Job- welding 100x20 to 20mm sq, both are 316L
One side fillet, other butt.
Wire choice, was more to do with what we had. Ideally 316, but corrosion properties arn't an issue in this case.
Had some 1mm 347si wire in anyway, according to SIF, thats ideal for 304,321.... and joints subject to high temperatures.
Gas, air products Astec- Argon/Helium mix.
Set up in a pulse Mig....
Cant see a problem with the machine setup, nor the gas, nor the wire.... and i would like to think technique is okay
The fillet welds are nice, smooth clean, virtually spatterless, and have a nice smooth surface... the butt welds are being a pain, seems to welds okay, but once finished and headsheild lifted, the top of it is very rough, sides are fine, just the very top third or so.
Tried more gas, less gas, different machine settings....
Anyone else ever used 347 on 316?
