Any decent blaster will phosphate coat it so it protects the surface till you get it home and epoxied, sounds like the blaster isn't a consummate professional
Does your blaster use phosphoric acid to coat the bare metal?

Can you paint over slightly rusty blasted steel with an epoxy primer? I have read they are ok for "gingered steel". I assume that means turning slightly orange? In our salty seaside air blasted steel goes like that after about 2 hrs!!!
Well I wouldnt call the official advise of the manufactures a bodge and in an "ideal" world then spotless is the answer but I can't see you will get perfect conditions in the North Sea of on the Forth bridge which is where this stuff is normally used.
I have tried several times the cheap cans of zinc weld through primer on spotless just blasted steel - total rubbish!!!
the second u have blasted steel it has a rust coating on it even if u cant notice it .just picking it up with bare hands and taking it in to a warm room u can see rust finger printsCan you paint over slightly rusty blasted steel with an epoxy primer?
