Running air tools without regulator.

everyone to there own . most of my air tools are over 40 years old and were second hand from an american engine plant production line not a million miles away and still in good nick price of a norgren water seperator regulator free

What model is that? Looking for one and also an inline pressure reg for spray gun.

Indeed. I've got various tractors, one is over 40 years old and is still in everyday use, I look after it, service it and buy new parts for it as and when required because it's worth it.

OTOH, getting all self-righteous over some stupid little tuppence ha'penny windy drill is daft!

I reckon the CE mark applies to the label it's printed on, rather than what the label's stuck to.

The label (actually a welded on data plate here) says the vessel conforms to the EEC standard for that particular type of pressure vessel. That's in addition to the CE mark.

There are some things you have to take at face value, or failing that it's a very simple job to do your own hydraulic pressure test on the vessel if you have any doubts.

CE stands for Chinese Equivalent doesn't it ? The separator regulator in the picture looks just like my Norgren one which I have had forever.

do we take it u havent a filter regulator then and u only use crappy machine mart air tools at full whack what about spraying gear and fine detail sand or bead blasting ? obviously not

Have to say i don't bother with a regulator either. Axminster 3hp 100L in the back of a transit van. The supplied regulator was pants, held the air flow down far too much. So that went in the bin, I run the compressor through a Clarke water trap and straight into the air tools, air riveter and small angle DA mainly. I do use a curly lead though which restricts things a little, I find it less weighty on the arm when moving around. If i use the spray guns I've got an inline regulator that i control the air feed with.

Seems to work just fine, been like that for ages

obviously some people on here seem to know more than the manafacturers and disreguard safety sugesting running gear at 150 psi thats meant to run at 90 psi

i've been useing air tools for years on unregulated air.

some of the cheep tools don't do much on 90 psi and need 120+ to be remotely uefull imo. tall he rattel guns are alsways on unregulated air

when i'm porting cyl heads i run the mini die grinder on upto 150 Psi, yes it trashes the cheepy die grinders a bit quicker but i just view them as a consumable the time it saves is worth it, also the cutters seem to really like the extra RPM.

Please note the "CE" mark stamped on that is NOT the EU certified mark but the "China Export" mark that the Chinese allegedly invented to look like the genuine "CE" mark that customers in the EU have been taught to look for as a sign of quality.

Also don't automatically trust a genuine "CE" mark, as there have been cases of China sending items for testing to get the genuine "CE" mark and then producing a sub-standard version for general sale and putting the "CE" mark on it

I'm NOT saying your compressor is unsafe just as always ... Buyer Beware !!!!!!

As for windy-guns I sometimes run mine at 150psi to loosen those really stubborn nuts, another trick is don't forget to put some oil down the air inlet, it really helps the gun work better.
