On the jacking subject, Long time ago my brother-in-law always carried an air bag, blown up from the exhaust pipe. does anybody else remember them?
I have two or three of them, used to use them for recoveries on soft fields or the beach, worked very well especially on diesels they are still in my 4x4 tranny I think. just had to be careful of sharp bits on the underside of the car, subframe bolts and the likes etc nothing to beat them for that application. On the jacking subject, Long time ago my brother-in-law always carried an air bag, blown up from the exhaust pipe. does anybody else remember them?
normspanners .Are 4x4 transits still on the market?I have two or three of them, used to use them for recoveries on soft fields or the beach, worked very well especially on diesels they are still in my 4x4 tranny I think. just had to be careful of sharp bits on the underside of the car, subframe bolts and the likes etc nothing to beat them for that application.
Don't forget porridge for noisy g/boxes and rear axles.
Run Flats, never had them and doubt I will..
which is why I would never have a car without a full size spare. ( and a decent jack..)

Not sure? not seen any counties for along time I know most util com. have gone to sprinter 4x4s now, we do work for scottish power on them, I always wanted a tranny one, so when i got the opportunity to get one x util co. I did, it was 2.0 petrol! gutless!! , it had to have turbo di power imo so got a proper new turbo engine from ford for it, then came the brakes not good enough for what I was doing with it, it then had landcruiser vented discs and renault master calipers, then racing 4x4 tyres I did get a lsd from an ambulance for it , and Power steering, it would go most places and pull things you wouldnt believe like a volvo truck and low loader with a canal boat on, up one of the steepest hills around here, many many 4x4 off the beaches etc etc, loads of front wheel drive bt trannies on their bellies out of parks fields etc where other 4x4 had failed. the later ones with independent susp were nowhere near as good as the beam axle design. mine is similar to this but white ... and brown .. I did buy anew extra long later style tranny with the idea of retro fitting the axles and engine etc but both are still in the back ...waiting they make good sheds thoughnormspanners .Are 4x4 transits still on the market?
That is fan-blooming-tastic Norm, I absolutely love it
