I need to increase the depth of a rebate and plan to use a bit like this. The problem is the one I found is expensive, given I've got a lot to do I expect I'll need quite a few bits. Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative brand?

I cant tell the difference between my trend bits and the cheapy silverlines. They are both tungsten carbide, both sharp and cut well.

theres different grades and quality of carbide so depends on how long they last and stay sharp

I've got just one of their bits. I think it was £60. Then the vat and delivery...

But it just works. And has continued to work for some time.

I have some trend bits and they are good. But a while back I bought some cheap Chinese pattern bits (with bearings) to route out some signs in hardwood and they worked just fine. Good, actually. On the other hand, I bought a set of cheap cutters in a UK store many years ago and they were terrible! Pot luck, I guess.

different if it's a table top or other vis jobs....

Titman bits are reputed to be very good.....

Worth noting that trend have several different product lines, at different price points for different levels of quality/longevity.
Although if you only have a small amount of stuff to do, a cheap one is probably going to be fine really.
