Rotory milling vise

This vise has a V shape on the top, is it damage or some kind of adaption

Is it to try to stop coolant running along the top and onto the floor? No idea why it's V shaped though.

It looks like it's been done with an angle grinder which is an odd choice given it was presumably mounted on a milling machine.

Looks like it's been done to allow a particular-shaped part to be held for machining. There's no way you'll ever know unless you happen to find out who did it.

When you use it, can you report back how effective it is in stopping suds running onto the floor in use. That's one of my bugbears as you end up stood in a puddle of suds after a long session and I never thought to do this..
Angle ground slots just makes sense too, your midway on a long job yet again with a slippy patch at your feet and getting tired, but everything is set up and progressing and you dont want to disturb it, so finally you break down and animal a solution in...

When I've come across the problem in the past, I've just laid a strip of rag on top of the vice and stuck a parallel on top

I don't think it will ever get used by me but my mate was asking if he could borrow it so.i will get feedback if he does
