my oldest one is 40 year old and that one dosnt flare but i look after it and its never been slung in a bag

I've got a Rothenberger torch in my workshop and a Bernzomatic one as well which is absolutely identical, but which was substantially cheaper than the Rothenberger item. I also have one of the (presumably Chinese) knock off torches which I use in the Kitchen after getting p***ed off with using the weedy cheffy torches for Creme Caramel etc. knock off torch in the kitchen I use this with a Propane cylinder, but it seemed to work OK when I tried it with Mapp. I buy the Mapp cylinders several at a time off ebay, results are the same as Rothenberger branded ones.

Had to do a bit of brass braizing on a pressure washer lance this week with my Rothy...could not reach the temps required by a few degrees to get the rod to flow correctly, my solution was to get my airline blow gun and put the tip into the torch feed tube hole at the base and give it a bit of compressed air at about 10 psi...game changer and had the brass glowing from a dull red to a bright red and the rod flowed perfect.

That sounds good. Needing more heat sometimes, but don't really need to use the Oxy Acetylene kit is the reason I have two Mapp torches in my workshop.
