The thing to watch is if you're putting 6ft panels on a support with a diameter of 3ft, the side loadings might be getting a bit much, creating side loading on the central bearing causing it to bind, you could counter that by putting external support bearing / rollers on the extremities of the bench, at say 90° intervals, using something like skateboard wheels or similar would work fine to allow the support plate to rotate while being supported.

Thinking of the sort of loads experienced by the hub on a car, I doubt that it would be a problem.
