Talking of bent shafts .I thought it was at first but there seems to be some sort of cam action - is that normal?Brute force, with a bearing puller though, don't try hammering it off, you'll bend the shaft.
Yes it engages and disengages the wormTalking of bent shafts .I thought it was at first but there seems to be some sort of cam action - is that normal?
Brilliant it's made in Taiwan so possibly the same. Feels quite well made. Certainly good enough for what I need it for.It looks very similar to a Vertex HV6, 8, 10 or 12. The manuals for these have exploded diagrams which might assist with understanding what does what.
Don't you mean antiRotate the shaft counter clockwise and the worm should disengage from the gear.
Then you can pull it out.
There might (will) be a pinch bolt to lock it in place
Hanging off where?I would expect to find a roll pin holding that in place and the second smaller hole looks suspiciously off centre as if it might even be the culprit.
<edit> PS my instant reaction seeing that delicate shaft assembly hanging off a massively heavy body and I think it's too late to worry about a bent shaft. Almost certainly already is...
Hanging off where?
No doesn't seem bent.
Won't pull out so maybe there is a roll pin somewhere.
Ahh I see what you mean.I just mean the diameter of the oversize wheel "overhangs" the depth of the base (which is why it is currently hanging off an edge).
RT's are often poor design, for example the handle is on the wrong side to use on a lathe but it'd make no difference for a mill'ist. Doubt its bent but easily measured once apart..Or are they all like that to overhang a mill table?
I have not long borrowed a Vertex from daleyd and his hand wheel was identical in size, had to hang it off the edge so it was not resting on it.Ahh I see what you mean.
You reckon it's none standard? Or are they all like that to overhang a mill table?

There's a grub screw tht holds the eccentric block into the body. Remove that and it comes apart.Brilliant it's made in Taiwan so possibly the same. Feels quite well made. Certainly good enough for what I need it for.
Managed to get the handle of with gentle taps. Couldn't find my puller.
How does the shaft come out?
