Good afternoon, this is my first time on this forum, so please bare with me. I am afer some advice on rolling thin (1mm) stainless steel.
Currently we Power punch the sheet to size and punch holes into it (up to 10 at 3/4" dia, we then roll the sheet to dia which is approx 455mm dia and up to 2000mm long. After rolling the long seam is welded and the holes are flared out with an outstand of about 3mm - 5mm.
What I would like to be able to do is punch the sheet to size and also punch and flare the holes on the power punch, then roll to diameter after, the problem is rolling the sheet with these flared holes on conventional steel rollers.
Has anyone come across this problem before? if so could you advise. People have suggested rubber or neoprene rolls or using a backing pad, but at the moment I am at a loss.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks
