Now I am totally on my own, it is all a bit scary. Basically the company I was working for shut last week so I have converted part of my barn into a workshop. Got my welders, welding table, press and various bits and bobs.... now starting to need a few other bits of equipment.
I have only really ever welded and cut, never been involved in the forming side of things so am really new to it all
Now then, I need to roll some 80x40mm box section. total length of 1.7 meters. to drop down about 1/2 inch in the middle so it is literally a tiny amount.
Now a ring roller would be the best thing to use but I don't have one of them. 2 options, buy one or make one... I was thinking of making one from some plumbers bearings and some 60x60x5mm box section and then the old trusty bottle jack.
Would 25mm bright steel bar be ok for the 2 bottom shafts for the box to sit on then maybe 40mm for the drive roller? Only reason I ask is because I have those sizes of bearings from another project left over
Cheers!
