Made one like the 2nd pic, works fine though escorts are pretty light bare shells.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking and mine is for an escort aswell.

Mine you can turn the shell over with one finger. It is perfectly balanced with a totally stripped out shell, but it took a lot of messing around to get it like that.

mines very slightly floor heavy so will just try to right itself. was first attempt at it and can turn it over easily alone so left it like that.

made it out of old bed frames but does the job.....

Mine is a mk2 mania one with pivot height adjustment which is great as I can have the shell on trestles and wind the pivot point down to connect, then raise the shell off the trestles up to working height
It works very well
And all folds down afterwards

It's just a series of holes that the green flange bearing bolts to.

Even though you can set the CG to within approximately 10mm, you can't adjust for one side of the tub being heavier than the other - which mine was, probably a combination of filler in the rear wing and extra metal work due to RH drive.
