Following on from some advice in the other rocket stove thread I've knocked one up to heat the workshop.
The scrapyard didn't have any big box section so it was to be a piece of 100 x 100 x 10mm angle iron and a bit more cutting and welding. The rest was some offcuts I had, hence the miss match of inlets. Fuel inlet is 100 x 50 x 5mm and air inlet is 50 x 50x 6mm.
Tacked together...
The generator doesn't have the power to do any big welding so it was back home and in the back yard with the inverter. It was a good opportunity to practice some multi pass welds and lay down plenty of the new overcord rods that I haven't been agreeing with. Running them DC and cranking the amps really helps with them I found.
Did a root weld then passed over the top of that twice. They're good for me but not perfect by any means so any tips on how to improve greatly received. All were done on the flat.
Managed to get some good peelers
Bent some 12mm bar into some legs
Finished article, one with a BSEN mug for scale, chimney is 800 high plus around 150 between the base and the floor.
Test run.
It's raging as I poured a bit of white spirit in to get it going. I found covering the fuel inlet made it smoke a lot so I don't think it's getting enough air through the 50x50 box alone. runs fine with both fuel and air inlets open.
After around 20 minutes of burning it was very hot and radiating a good amount of heat.
