I must have done the Manx & Tour of Mull for about 10 years and have no idea of the ferry prices as our tickets were paid by the organisers due to being in a rally rescue ambulance

While I was out in the van today I drove at least 40 miles of outstanding country roads with no pot holes, yeah some rough surface and some driveshaft snapping drops on the edge of the tarmac but that all makes for a top rally surface.

New brighton promenade stages are held on public roads also. I dont think the North west stages compete on public roads but the walkways around the blackpool prom are used.

The Scarborough race circuit is different from other race meetings in that the circuit is hired off the local Scarborough Corporation , although Scarborough Racing Circuits Ltd (Combine of the Auto 66 Club & North East Motor Cycle racing Club) are responsible for providing toilets, extra fences, water, pathways, paddock facilities and a compensation payment has to be made to the municipal café at the Memorial that cannot open during race days. In addition 3,000 straw bales have to be brought to the circuit and then taken away afterwards. It’s a £9,000 outlay each time, making it essential to attract a large influx of paying customers for the three annual events.
Doesn't matter when you have an agenda to push.
It'll be too noisy, like the gigs in Hyde Park that had to be turned down to keep the oligarchs happy.

In 1830, a former Liverpool merchant, James Atherton, purchased 170 acres of land of what was then known as 'Rock Point'. The area had great views out to sea and had a great beach. Atherton had the idea of turning the heathlands and sandhills into a community and watering holes for the Liverpool business people and others to stay during the summer months.

new brighton prom is the A554 which is a normal council maintained public road..the council have deemed the slipways on to the public beach private so they can pursue locked gated access to the beach so that all boat owners including jet ski,s must have a paid for permit to launch and retrieve. But thats another fight for another day

With regards to Olivers Mount in Scarborough, the roads used form part of a park that is owned by the Local Authority. Therefore, although open to the public, they are not ‘roads’ for the purposes of the Highways Act. The same also applies to Madeira Drive in Brighton (where an annual sprint is held). Although Birmingham was successful in gaining an Act of Parliament, it was limited to a set number of days, dates and times which, if applied to London would limit flexibility to fit in with F1’s requirements.

What about the Great Orme in Llandudno?, I went to watch the RAC rally run a stage round there.
The motorbike road racing is still a big thing in northern ireland. Was at the north west 200 when Michael Rutter went just over 200mph down the coast road. Used to be a great road race just outside my town... The Temple 100, they stopped it after a local guy got killed but it was always a yearly tradition for me and my dad to go down and watch with a huge "petrol burger" and make a wee day of it.
