Ring shank nails

I need to overboard the floors in a 2 bed terrace with 1/4" ply. 20mm ring shanks look like the order of the day.

I don't fancy getting jiggy with an Estwing for that quantity. I have a Paslode first fix and a second fix nail gun, but they don't do a nail which fits these. There are some pneumatic ones which fore ring shanks, but nothing that short.

Any ideas chaps?

Your going to have to get your hammer I'm afraid or get yourself a shed load of 3 x 20 screws and get the cordless out .

Coil nails would do that job.

i just did the first floor with 20mm reisier counter sunk screws

Howdens supply Reisier screws with their kitchens. I never thought i'd get excited about screws but they are quite nice

It's the only screw I buy for general wood working like kitchens. Studding, flooring, building or fencing

Spax flooring screws are ace for putting floorboards down to joists:

circular saw was set just a weeny bit too deep!

drywall screws would be ample enough to use

yep quick enough to do with electreic screwwy or impact gun .i wouldn't nail it down because if u need to get to the wiring or pipes its a pig to rive up and gets damaged with nails get it all the time at work same as lifting laminate flooring

Please explain to me a plausible situation in which this would be possible. He is to use a 20mm nail, through 6mm plywood, into 18mm floorboards. There is no way the nail will project below the underside of the floorboard.

it could happen with screws as they self counter sink! not saying it will but it could.

Well I found this little gem in a rental. 2.5mm spur off a ring. A loose bit of board sat on the cable. Just shows how pipes & cables can be very close to the underside of the floorboards etc. I reckon anyway these boards were <20mm.

En route to sorting it:

I've seen gas and water pipes sat in a 15/22 mm notch at the top of the joist frequently.
