So I've just received a new GYS SmartMIG 162 from weldquip, which I hooked up to a 2L argoshield light bottle from BOC and some 0.6 wire.
I'm going to be carrying out some car body work repairs so started practicing on an old door.
Results are below....don't hold back with the comments. Got to start somewhere and any help is appreciated.
I feel my horizontal welds aren't too bad....maybe....but I really struggled going vertically though, so switched to trying stitch welds.
Also cut out a section of the door then welded it back in. Started with a few tacks, then ~2cm welds to join the tacks.
I'm getting a fair bit of brown soot around the weld....is this normal? I have the gas flow set to ~15lpm whilst using it in the barn, doors shut. Guessing maybe my tip angle is wrong???
Thanks
