Greetings from Ohio,
I have been lurking various welding forums on how to reverse the polarity of these welders in order to effectively use the flux core that I have. I originally had C25 hooked up, but have run out and my friend turned me on to going about gas-less. Much of the work I do is outside, and I would never say no to a deeper weld (if done correctly).
So I went out to Rural King and bought some flux core wire and ran a bead, and it was trash. Really I knew something was wrong because I couldn't see a weld-pool. So I immediately stopped and wouldn't you know it, I hadn't reversed the polarity.
So now I'm on to the next challenge. With these Clarke welders, there is not an easy indication of the positive and negative leads. There are not indicated positive and negative terminals. I looked in the manual, but damned if there is anything helpful there. I e-mailed the company (which is out of the UK) and I have yet to receive a response.
Then, I found this: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/clarke-100e-mk2-gassless.63051/page-4#post-1016433
Even looking at the previous thread, it sort of dead ends, and the guy that figured it out didn't post how he changed the polarity, not easily at any rate.
So I am here asking for some good advice on how to do this. I have attached pictures of the inside of the welder for easy reference and I hope it helps.
Any help would be appreciated.
