Reversing an ac motor.

Simple wiring job to swap the wires, or no? The wiring on this lathe was massively over complicated for a simple single phase ac motor

I have a change pole switch though, so can that be used to reverse the motor?

Only asked as this lathe doesn't have a spindle reverse, although does have left and right thread cutting and feeds so not the end of the world really if it only spins 1 way

You need to get into the motor terminal box and bring out the connections to the start winding.
Get a piccy of the term box with the covers off and post here.

Two things to be aware of ....
1) the S&B you have is a screwed thread nose so great care needed if using reverse to ensure that the chuck/faceplate etc doesn't unscrew
2) that the motor will only reverse after coming to a complete (or nearly) complete standstill.

Often there is a map in the lid of the terminal box.

Ah, sod that, terminal box is difficult to get at, I'll just suffer without reverse spindle
