Chaps,
I'm in the very early stages of doing up a porsche 924, my one being an early 1977 model which was only half galvanised so the early ones suffer from rust pretty badly.
At the moment i've started to cut out the worst of the rust which is bad around the drivers side floorpan (in the corner by the accellerator pedal) and carries on all the way along the drivers side sill as you can see in the pics.
I've removed the outer sill to see the extent of the damage inside but what has surprised me is that it's all mostly just along the the bottom of the sills (i was expecting the inside to be fully rotted away - but the top of the sill/door area is very good and sound with no rot visible.
What do you guys think is the best way to approach the repairs - will the whole section of the visible inner sill need to be replaced or can i rebuild using butt welds or plate weld sections in.
What do you reckon guys?
Any advice much appreciated.
