I just bought a Ferm helmet which supports DIN 9 -13.
i am welding thin metal with MIG on low amps.
My previous helmet says 3 -11.
Have i bought the wrong helmet for welding with low amps?
Because the response time isnt correct?
Thanks for replying.
Im from holland so don't mind my english.
Yes it doesnt darken quickly enought.
There is a sensitivity switch, but playing with that didnt help either.
So a higher DIN numbers are always better?
Because i don't have the problem with my speedglass that says 3 - 11.
The lens shade of my new one is adjustable from 9 - 13.
But in the manual it says in a shade guide:
Mig and then starting with DIN 10 at 80 amps.
Below that number of amps it doesnt give a DIN number at all.
Hello Timioto.
ANY helmet that has a noticable delay of the auto screen should be in the bin!!,don't trust your eyes to this sortof equipment at all.I don't think the sensitivity adjustment will alter the speed of reaction, just the ammount of light required to operate the lens.
The screen will be a shade 4 before activation and will protect your eyes from UV even when in the light state. What does it say the response time is ?
