She uses a Peter Child Pyrography machine for the fine bits and for large areas a fine tip soldering iron. Cutting and sanding flat and drying the wood is the long difficult bit, some of our best bits of beech split just as it got dry enough to work on. Ash and Oak are the best to work with. Seasoned oak is a right pain to cut and sand flat.
What do you cut that with?
If cutting across the grain just a normal narrow chainsaw and bar, if it's with the grain(like cutting a plank) I use a narrow milling chain then sand down with various grades of sandpaper with the grain.
