Quick question for one of our sparkies
I want to "splice" an additional socket into a ring main , as the new cable will be the new colours and existing the old ones , is it a requirement to sleve or mark with tape the new wires to match the old ?
well i wasnt using splice as a technical term , ive got access to the ceiling ,so i can get to the existing sockets easily . Just plan on adding a new outlet between the existing ones , new length of t+e where necessary .
anyone can spur sockets of an existing ringmain and extra lights of an existing circuit . only outdoor bathroom and kitchen circuits must be registered changing like for like doest have to be and as far as using the old colours to fool people and pay on ebay exorbinant amounts its pointless the new colours came in a year earlier than part p so why bother if u wanted to be so minded look at all cables and the date and manafacturer are all stamped across it every few yards
