They were pretty good for re-chroming motorcycle fork legs when I was in the bike trade 8 years ago. I don't know what they are like for other services, but I guess pretty good if the fork legs are to go by.

Another option is a hydraulic cylinder reconditioning company.

Philpotts did industrial/hydraulic chroming first, bike forks was just a small sideline. Not sure what the balance is nowadays, since the bike side took off.
Sadly gone are the days of turning up on Sat with some unmarked tenners - now costs 2.5x what it used to..

Just called these guys. Week turn round, to grind, hard chrome and grind to size approximately 140+VAT 10.40 carriage each way.

The item is the Turret head off the Tom Senior 2.5x18"
