Same as flueless gas fires, 100% efficient as nothing is lost up the chimney
The point about storage heaters is that the old ones were leaking heat when the sun was shining - when you didn't want it.

every storage heater loses heat including water storage heaters
I contacted https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/ and was happy with the advice they gave. i am getting an interest free £10k loan to replace storage heaters with an air source heat pump system, then repayments every quarter that will pay off the loan. I have spoken to a few people with the same same system locally and they are happy. Most new builds use it around me and they are converting much of our housing association stock. My house is 14 years old and well insulated, not suitable for a less insulated property apparently.Even more confused now -so many options - anyone recommend a company that will give independent advice and suggestions?

A wood stove's lovely and could heat the central heating system as well but remember it takes a lot of work to either collect, store, and chop the wood or buy it in, plus somewhere to store it.
Wood burners are also messy, bringing the wood in everyday and grey ash everywhere. If you do have one with a back boiler it will also use a LOT of wood & you can't program it to come on in the morning or for when you get home.
@jack-daniels thank you - seems like sound advice and has cleared a lot of the fog. My thanks
No this is the forever home as plan to retire early, hence i want to get this right and proper to start with. Many thank all for a "heated" thread.
good advice in post above the panel heaters on standard daytime rate cost a fortune to run they bring the all singing and dancing ceramic ones out that cost a fortune and there no more economical or efficient than a cheapo one with an open wire element at quarter of the price .no matter how its 3kw output there all the same ,you cant make it a bigger output just because its ceramic or in oil
wot a load of ******. I know a guy who changed his nightstore heaters to these https://www.google.co.uk/search?sou...3cy13aXqwAQo&sclient=psy-ab#spf=1593963187288 I said I wouldn't bother there just giving u the bull. I altered all the wiring binned the nightstores and and fit 5 of them . one year on and his bills nearly doubledUnless you use these ones with Graphene and a Nanotech coating, 80-95% more efficient. It even comes with a thermostat
