I'm a bit late to the party but when the Mrs had an incident with her Fiesta I welded the hole in the bumper with a soldering iron.
I also flattened a piece of gutter to use as a patch for repair.
It worked well and the Fiesta lives on as my back-up and had covered 7k kiles since July.
I did buy one of those metal 'staple' kits from Amazon for when I take the bumper off again and make it beautiful.
