Not a material I have ever done anything with other than making a radio case at school 15+ years ago. I need to repair a fibreglass cab that has some bits missing out of a gutter.
Whats the best way to go about this? I see some repair kits around, are they any good? Clean up, sand back, 'bodge' up, sand and paint?
I remember making the case years back, made a mould, painted with a gel coat then stuck on layers of fabric stuff, with plenty of resin. Stunk to high heaven.
Still similar?
The general finish of the roof is poor. Can it just be sanded back? Presumably as long as i don't sand through the gel coat and expose the rough fabric below everything will be rosey?
The metalwork is a bit rough; plenty to repair there too.
Is there a way to bring the glass back to its original sparkle? Its all orginal so i would like to keep it, but it is very dull. Even with lots of elbow grease it doesnt come clean.
Rubber seals are also a bit perished. OK now but i need to take them out and they will no doubt fall to bits. Can you obtain 'old type' seals?
Ta.
