Okay ladies and gentlemen.... since I really don't have too much going on to occupy my time tonight I'm going to post some more jobs that I've done... This is the main pin that connects the stick, bucket and thumb of this machine..... it was pretty wiped. I ended up repairing and boring the stick, bucket and the thumb. This post deals with the stick
Do you think there may be some wear showing in this pic?
Setting up the boring bar...
Typically on a job that will only require 1 build-up pass I will usually cut the bore true prior to welding... this accomplishes a few things... makes it easier to run your build-up passes in a bore that is round and not egg shaped or tappered... reduces the chances of pulling any bearing or pin material into the weld making machining difficult....
Cut clean up pass and started welding bores...
Welding completed... only needed a single pass...
Machine bores...
Bores are ruff cut to within .001 to .003 of the finished size... I will then hone the bores to the finished size...
Repair is complete... new spacer, bushings and seals installed.
Thanks for looking............
