Repairing a botch job on the porch today......

When I was prepping the windows for reglazing I couldn't ignore the panels below that were covered with peeling sheets of thin plywood.

Pulled it off to find this. What I'd like to do is demolish the entire porch and rebuild it, it's full of rotten wood, but that's for another year.

Ripped it all out the t&g and frame.

This cedar smelled good enough to smoke, mmmmm!

Dpc glued in place.

Frame in.

TnG in.

I'll finish the beading and paint on Saturday.

Galvanized corrugated steel stood upright might look nice there.....

as a quick temp repair I've used water resistant plaster board....easy to cut n cheap....
I have one temp repair that was painted with Weathersheild still going strong after 5 years..

Pretty sure it was always a wood structure. Here is a pic from circa 1900.

originally it would have been iron railings

over the years its been changed to a outside porch from the above pic they wouldnt have built it like that so its been added on

as the apex roof is the wrong way for an original build

Correct, the holes for the lead fixings for the railing were visible. From the pic above, it looks like it must have been added within 10 years or so of the house being built.

ive actually got most of the wood for that lower part all in redwood

it was a wide door frame by the look of it and it hasnt been installed long its so new its like it fixeded on a wide corner door frame with windows

and aparently the wood floor is rosewood all this has been thrown out ready for the skip

i will take pics of what ive saved but there was enough for a full pallet 6ft wide as thats the longest length x2 in redwood

these are 1 m lengths by 3/4"

Thanks for the thought but no plan to do any more soon and no space to store.

That cedar was expensive though, £145 for the bits on the bench in the pic above.
