Next, I've got to mark out and cut a small plate that will be bored to fit the original part. This will be welded into place and provide extra support to the arms when they are welded in. No more cutting today as it's too late to be grinding outside.
Short intermission to do the beavers / cubs run. Rounded the ends off and removed burrs. Considered using the mill but it's really not a precision part.
Needed to adjust compound (rarely used on my lathe) and something didn't seem right with the hold down screws. Curious why there were so many washers. Now I see... previous owner stripped the threads. This will have to be sorted first.
Pull lathe forward from wall, remove splash back and wind top slide off? I presume that works similar to other lathes I've owned.
