repair advice/help required thanks (large oxford)

I have a bloody large oxford welder that has been absolutly brillient in the past but has suddenly died on me

Basically i used it yesterdayall was fine, put it away as usual went back to it this morning started it up. The fan spun into life the power button lit up and the wire feed works fine. It gave a little fizzle on contact but no real arc. wont even arc direct to clamp took all the covers off the relays appear to be working... any idea's what to look at?

ok so yesterday i extended a piece of weld wire from the gun then removed the wire feed. i then placed the wire on a piece of work and pulled the trigger to give it charge. when pulling it across the work i felt a slight drag and the wire became discoloured from heat but no arc.

just a thought has it got enough oil in it??,,,

check the earth clamp connectoions at the clamp and in the welder not just the socket but to the transformer aswell and dont be fooled by a good physical connection test with a meter if you have one same goes for power feed to the torch

It's a mig, not an oil-cooled arc.

I'm no machine expert but this has similar symptoms as others posted over the last few days and the general theme seems to be diode problems.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along with better diagnosis as this thread seems to have gone a bit unnoticed.
