It depends on the contract for ROU or indeed rental.

Some are for a fixed term IE 1, 3 or 5 years which when paid up front and is non refundable for the contract period (unless the company allows a refund for goodwill)

If you only want a cylinder for a one off job you can often negotiate a daily rate but this is usually only economical for short term hire.

If you explain more about your "being stung" perhaps someone could help.

I got my bottle from J&R Gases in south Yorkshire

I was lead to believe that i was renting the bottle

it was only when i decided to call it a day after not getting a good service that i was i told the fee that i paid was for the "Right of use" of the bottle

and that it was not returnable

had they’d mentioned this at the beginning , I would have gone elsewhere

I had been offered a better deal that I have now taken up

Sorry to hear that 2cv. I'm not familiar with your supplier but they should have at least given you a contract & terms so it was clear from the start.

Many of our customers just file it so I always explain things verbally too, firstly when quoting prices and again when signing up. This way there are no surprises when they come to renew.

it's a very good dodge

they forget to tell me all the terms & cons and when i get get fed up with the service and leave, they keep all the money

they have no insentive to give a good service, they get to keep the cash

I've placed an add in the "Used equipment for sale" section of the site

maybe someone will want to take over the bottle and i might get some of my money back
