They were heating empty buildings and burning any old bits of kitchen carcass etc. just to get the RHI. It's not like that now. Payments are less than a third of what they were and you need documentation that the wood comes from a registered source.

It's gone so far the other way that I would have to register to be a self supplier just to use the wood from my own woods. So £200 quid to register to use about two IBCs of coppicing timber per year.

Do you remember Dick Jotec's CHP system? Same sort of outcome - he was compliant, but the audit cost just knocked all those small scale people out of the game.

I was briefly, not enough to remember anybody though.

Here's the biomass rules, these are non domestic but they are similar but the rules appear to have come earlier for domestic. I've had to keep records and receipts of all my wood purchases for the last 4 years.

I don't think we disagree, probably misunderstood each other.

As government in this country is not joined up, but designed to be opposing, we never end up with any long term policies. Only proportional representation will fix that.

Any government that is influenced by any industry will act in the industry's interests rather than the country. They are not always the same.

I don't deny its sh1t, its corrupt from top to bottom.

AC was adopted so transformers could be used to reduce line losses. If inverters were around then we would have a dc grid now. In fact, there are such things powering isolated estates etc - apparently.

Lots of early local electricity supplies were DC. Too dangerous and the inability to step the voltage up or down simply kills the system for mass energy delivery. Think here the difference between the high voltage AC grid conductors and the hugely insulated HVDC cables.

Yes. Carrying voltage across distance. But if everyone had solar panels from the off it wouldn't need to be carried anywhere was the point I was getting at. No grid.

But not everyone in the late 1800s needed that power. Turn a light on and the wireless. And solar could of possibly progressed to that capacity at this point of time.

Same in SW France.....stunning Oak and Chestnut forests, there today gone tomorrow.....
last time I bought some euro Oak it was 500€ per cub m.....expensive firewood pellets......

I believe the Chinese bought up a lot of oak forests

Domestic renewable heat incentive was quarterly for 7 years.

Interesting. What I was saying is that if we had full scale solar in 1800 I’m sure we’d of had stuff to use power! Not just very humble usage .In effect we’d be 200 years ahead and we should have been if it wasn’t for the reign of terror held by Rome and other superstition holding scientists in suspicion under threat of death

I don’t like the idea of 100kw ligh bulb..

I would need certified evidence of that. Have any? Even in 1970, the only photo voltaic cell in the lab, where I worked, was for the ’Quantitrator’ which provided an electrical output (likely only micro-amps change, so milli-amps output) when a solution changed colour - for determining the end-point of some difficult volumetric anayses.

Back then photovoltaic generation was mainly for the likes of NASA.
