My Citroen relay has 30,000 mile intervals. Amazing really out of a 2.2 transit engine.As far as I'm aware they just reduced the service interval.
I guess that was probably an easy solution without having to admit that their design was at fault or accept blame. Reduce the service interval and blame the problems on poor lubricant performance or customers not sticking to the service intervals.
I wonder how many issues on a lot of engines are as a result of long gaps between oil changes. I know modern lubricants are designed last, but there's got to be a point where they start to become less effective and the filters etc start to get blocked or break down.
