Further problem arose when putting the nearside front wheel on. I always hand start the bolts though as these are difficult to get your fingers on the head as they are recessed in the wheel. But just using the socket and a 6in extension I got the bolts started properly and then used my hand ratchet to tighten them up, Three went ok and one sheared! This bolt must have been over-torqued by someone previously and I am only glad it happened whilst I was fitting it and not when the car was moving.
The other 3 wheels all went on the same way no problems so it was not my technique! I have to take the caliper and disc off now to get a grip on the bit left in the hub!
Give it time...
You'll learn.

How did you remove the spinning collar?Got the back two sleeves off today and these came off bashed but intact as opposed to splitting in two. The bolt shows how the Irwin grips and you need a vice to get the tool off the bolt!
Renault dealer got back today and reported that a replacement could not be supplied as there are too many different profiles of that shape to get the right one. So I decided to start and see what would work, The outer ring does rotate but as someone mentioned it was brittle so I used a long nosed drift and carefully punched the lip all the way round and it split nicely in two. Then the 17mm Irwin removal socket and bingo jpb was a good in!
