Renault Master II Internal Roof Cross Bars

Some of you may have seen random posts about our Renault Master camper

Brief history, we bought this about 5yrs ago, already converted (badly) by a previous owner

It's been a continuous project rectifying issues with the camper conversion

Latest issue is 1 of the overhead cupboards is coming away from the roof.

Inside the cupboard, there are 2 lengths of batton roughly 20x25 that is screwed into the roof lining and given that it's only 3mm fibre board I'm surprised it's lasted this long

Pulled out 1 of the roof lights and 1 of the internal roof support bars that run across the van is useable to get a fixing into



The roof support in the picture is approx 730mm from the cab

I've tried fishing and think I've found the one closest to the cab, but can't get a rod through the roof space to the 3rd one from the front.

Does anyone have access to a Master II to measure where the 3rd cross bar is?

Ours is a LWB medium high top

Have been trawling videos and images online and think I have an answer



Yellow arrow is the cross brace I can see through the hole for the strip light in my original post

Red arrow is the next one back and it looks to be inline with the rear of the sliding door

Will cut a hole inside the cupboard and see what's up there now I have something to aim for

Would a stud finder or metal detector with some sort of indicator for signal strength be of use here? You could use it to see where the rail is by the strength of the stud because where the rail is, its going to be closer to the surface your sliding the tool down...

Couple of strong magnets should find that!

@sparkysy There's a piece of 2x1 roofing batten between the cross bar and ceiling which unfortunately would get in the way of the magnet

A stud finder would do it

That's a mk3 if it's any help!
They are all evenly spaced so you should just be able to measure one pair then transfer across

I'm afraid my Master is the Maxi Top variant (raised glassfibre roof, so no roof struts like yours)

Missed this. I have a Master 2 medium roof, so will measure if still required.

Not clear about the starting datum though. You say cab, but do you mean the bulkhead ? My bulkhead does not go up to the roof, as there is a storage shelf above the "cab".

@Smallfry am all good, managed to find the next roof bracing bar along. Its inline with the join in the side panels
