Removing saddle post from pushbike.

I've just bought a push iron at an auction - its a 2002 gary fisher paragon, so a VERY good (expensive!) one.
I paid 15 quid.

But: the saddle post is jammed in the saddle tube - some muppet has cut it off flush leaving about 8-10 inches jammed.
Has anyone got any idea how to remove it?
I cant use heat because tube is heat treated and painted.

There's no access from the bottom
Im not sure if plusgas (50/50 diesel/petrol) will damage the bottom bracket bearing.

Im thinking an m20 bolt made into a tap then using a slide hammer but im open to other suggestions

What's stopping you stripping out the bottom bracket and thoroughly soaking it in Plusgas, then do your tap and slide hammer suggestion?

Something like an old expanding reamer in and expanded out to grip? Wouldn't think it would be incredibly tight in the tube

can you not put a saw cut down the tube thats stuck and then bend the cut ends in and maybe get a grip on the bent in tails or at least allow penetration fluid to soak in better. Is it Steel to Steel? I had a one stuck in a very old Holdsworth Frame donkeys years ago, I magaged to cut the whole length and it was still difficult to part the two surfaces, Ally/Steel.
Didnt even have reciprocating saws then.

Slide hammer?

It's a weight that's free to slide along a bar.
There's a stop at one end of the bar.
You fasten the other to what you want to pull, then hit the weight against the stop.

Not sure - shimano xt I think.
I thought all sealed units were "one time," tho???

On steel frames and alloy posts corrosion can seize the seat post in so tight its serious work to get them out, you can't just hammer it out, or it will gall up and grip even tighter. I think I cut a slot in the post lengthways, and collapsed it in situ.

Could you not just get an expanding reamer and thin the post till it is easily collapsed as the post has been cut it is no loss

I think the one on my bike is sealed (it's a while since I last had to change it) you can take them out and re fit them but as sip-free says any strange noises or play and you bin it and fit a new one cos you can't take them apart

Is it a steel tube in an alloy frame? How about heating the frame with a not too hot air gun and apply ice cubes to the tube?

Some of the bearing units are made to non standard special order sizes so you will never be able to just replace them cheaply, and keep the axle, and spacer tube, so you have to buy a whole new cartridge. A bit of a con going on there I think.

It's an alloy frame AND seat post.
Could be different alloys tho, so galvanically corroded anyway
