Removing plaster from stone

Is the pink stuff what you are trying to keep?

And the blue what you are wanting to remove?


If so, i reckon the blue is just a whole load of limewash. Water will not dissolve limewash in the same way that it will gypsum.

A steamer may loosen it for mechanical removal, but it wont dissolve it.


Im having an issue with scale from your photos, but it doesnt look big - id say just get on with it by hand (or whatever) and it will be done.

Again, that was done by hand, without electrical tools. Sure i was getting paid, but its not like it took three lifetimes.

There's also the dust issue, & not wishing to scrape the hell out of the detail on the stone. It's taken me nigh on seven year to make a start on this, so it's no rush job.
