What benefit does it have for center drills. Unless they are too long for the chuckI usually dill through the chuck and use a drift to knock the taper out. The resulting drill hole allows for centre drills to be held better subsequently.
My taper chucks have a through hole to tap them off from the front.
Does the taper have a drawbar thread or a tang? You could use a spacer and pull a threaded taper out.
hold the tang on the taper in a vice sideways on and give the back of the chuck a good whack square on with a copper or alloy drift. it wont fail
oh but it did and i beat the carp out of ithold the tang on the taper in a vice sideways on and give the back of the chuck a good whack square on with a copper or alloy drift. it wont fail
