Removing burnt plastic from copper wire safely?

This is from my new to me Sykes Pickavant heating ductor tool.

Previous owner has sent it and messed up the flexible "bearing buddy" accessory.

Plastic is melted into the copper flex wire. Is there a safe chemical I could steep this in to melt away the burnt plastic and save the copper flex?

The flex.is specific to the tool with crimped ends so I'd like to save it if I can. New heat resistant sleeving would go back over it.

Unsure about toulene. Acetone is stronger than MEK and is common as nail varnish remover, superdrug or most supermarkets stock small bottles which should be plenty for that.
DCM (2k paint stripper/Starchem) is stronger but with a boiling point of 40, not recommended for general use.

Not all plastics can be disolved. Nylon, no chance.

If the copper is enammelled litz wire, that insulation is usually safe from solvents.
