me too, agreed, the problem is that they save a penny here on the difference, however in their world, multiply that by 0000000's per year and all of a sudden they think its a good deal..

Its just the wrong circlip Ashley, its an external clip which often get mis sold,wrongly supplied or fitted on an internal application.

Internal snap rings are normally like the one below so you can tease them out.

I have a specially ground little blade, hard to describe like a pointed, radius-ed back pick set at 45degs, that I tap in under the end edge of the clip for peugeot wheel bearings, swift smack with a hammer gets it under the edge then a small screwdriver to continue the process. I usually put a 45 deg angle on the new clip in case in case it is me doing the job the next time so it is easier.

Internal snap rings are normally like the one below so you can tease them out.

HUM maybe in years gone by, not on some peugeot wheel bearings they are just square or what they call pi cut ends on them! or even worse with clips like these with the angle

or some of the single angle cuts I have drilled a small hole on some of that type, just under the circlip to aid getting a scribe in on the really stupid ones that dont give enough room between the ends of the clip to get anything in there.

Still bad engineering practice when the correct clip is available Norm, they just like to make it hard for diy mechanics so build in a bit of buggerance.

Yeah exactly Bob, that video,s tool hook endis the shape of the end of the blade I made for doing it but held at 45 degrees out of the hub and aswift smack gets it under with out destroying it as in the vid.
