Just got some bits back from the powder coaters and where they have taped up bits which needed masking is horribly sticky - industrially so.

What's the best thing to remove it with?

Methylated spirit shifts the go off retailers shelves from the price tickes and sticky labels, might be worth the try as well.

try acetone - can get it from Boots and other chemists - about £1.50 a bottle

May sound a bit off topic but I recently had an operation, when they took off the dressings they wiped the glue residue off with a little wipe, it removed the glue with a single swipe, no smell or sting.

I commented on how good it was and the nurse said her hubby used them to clean up carpet glue when fitting stair carpet, she said they remove anything.

Not sure where to get them though, I'll have a google.

Baby wipes are our go to for removing residues, they seem to work on everything we've tried so far.

I have used stuff called ZOFF. A little folded wipe impregnated with some smelly stuff that comes in a sealed envelope. Removes all sorts of adhesive residue. You can buy it in most chemists I think.

Zoff was Trich or CarbonTet, used to come in a bottle with a fabric wad in the neck of the bottle.
Best thing I have used for getting the glue from stickers off is chloroform.
I used to get it from a nurse, she used it for removing the glue from plasters, it was better than plaster remover[so she said].
