One of those would do the trick almost certainly if you have access from inside. But cheaper to stanley door card, if you dont know someone who has one.

I had the same problem with my e39. Dealers wanted to butcher the door card but I wasn't having that. I discovered by opening the window and operating both handles at the same time, the door would open. New solenoid cured the problem.

The solenoid inside the door locks like to go over themselves and jam up causing your issue.
Had the same fault on a focus I had last year but that eventually operated and unlocked after 2 weeks of attacking it with WD40.

Where did you spray it from? I have managed to pry the top of the door card down now but still won't budge

Take the battery off for a minute just incase the circuit has gone daft, I know someone this happened to same car and it just started to work again of its own accord

A similar thing happened to my cousin's Saab, we managed to get the door card off without destroying it and then "remove" most of the lock with a die grinder. You may be able to do something similar if none of the cleaner fixes work.

Used a long straw and pointed it at the latch from the outside.
Used a pen torch to pin point the latch.

thats not a bad idea...i am planning on changing the battery anyway for the ferrari unit i am curretnyl using on the renault (the perks of working for the manufacturer eh) so will do that tomorrow

Just leave it for a while, sometimes these things come right after a number of lock/unlock cycles and from bouncing along our finest smooth roads.

the dead lock may be stuck on, lock it by pressing the button twice to activate the dead locks and then unlock to see if it releases it

tried that...i always lock it twice when i get out...
