they came from the magic shipping container in the car park that was delivered from the land of 'Apollo' ( i think it's near china somewhere...) late before christmas we had allnighters building up bikes for 'santa' and we test rode them round the car bay to check the brakes, one lad disappeared for over an hour and at 4am we found him in the bottom of an inspection pit with a snapped Kirk Evolution and a broken collarbone...
A second hand Marin Pine Mountain.
I had a go on a Kirk a while back, hideous thing, like riding a plank.
none bike nerds these things had a cast magnesium frame.
the way I ride off road I would have been killed on the Kirk.
I used to love taking boulder fields at high speed on a rigid bike, go fast enough and you are fine.
Noo they had them on tomorrows world and tried that, they also drove a car over a Kirk frame. To burn it needs to be in small pieces.
Hideous things, I think most of them snapped off at the stays.
I think the designer is still touting the idea around.
Stupid idea, a bike frame needs to have some inherent shock absorption.
And they were solid so heavy.
Magnesium is light, but if you use lots of it it still comes out heavy.
