The unloader only works if you push down the switch on the compressor to stop it or you let it reach full pressure before switching itself off.
It was well ventilated but located where it was difficult to reach the compressor switch so I took the handy option & switched it off at the plug.
The £200 sealey was replaced with a £50 no-name Chinese cheapy & it lived under the same bench but this time I always switched it off correctly. This compressor was used daily for at least 8 years & apart from an annual oil change it never let me down. Since I got a bigger compressor it has been put on standby duty but it still runs ok.
That’s what I pointed out in my later response, you wouldn’t go turning it off while it is actually running, surely. Unless you couldn’t hear it.
Mine was in the garage loft so I guess I knew not to turn it off in mid run. But if it was somewhere it can’t be heard...
